CECOE’s Lessons Learned Workshop
With technical assistance from the European Center for Electoral Support, CECOE Program Staff hosted a Lessons Learned workshop on Monday, June 27, 2022, in Jigjiga City.
During the implementation of the observation project, CECOE and its member CSOs, regional focal points, zonal coordinators, and observers encountered several scenarios and conditions.
In its evaluation of how well the election observation project was carried out, CECOE identified that there were a number of lessons to be learned from the diverse experiences of its member CSOs, regional focal points, zonal coordinators, and observers in terms of the recruiting, accrediting, training and deploying election observers as well as the reporting mechanism of their activities.
Civil society organizations from Jigjiga City Administration and Harari Regional State participated in the workshop, which examined the lessons discovered during the election observation of the sixth national elections with the aim of ensuring that future election observation projects are implemented in a way that incorporates the lessons.
This workshop sought to increase member organizations' understanding of the steps involved in executing an election observation program, gain more insight from members with a grassroots presence, and develop a more effective strategy for recruitment, training, and deployment based on the insights of member organizations.
