Support NEBE’s Workshop and Midterm Program Review of the Organisation

From the 1st to the 6th of January 2024, ECES opens the door to the year 2024 by hosting a workshop on planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Following the framework of the project European Response to Electoral Cycle Support in Ethiopia (EURECS-Ethiopia), this activity counts with the presence of National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) Board Members, the CEO & DEPUTY CEO, HQ Department  Heads, Managers and Heads of the 12 Regional Branch Offices.

In line with post-election period internal institutional, strategic, and operational reform plans, NEBE has undertaken a series of initiatives aimed at transforming the organisation and elevating its staff to a level capable of delivering a credible, inclusive, and democratic electoral process in upcoming elections. Pursuing this goal, NEBE has thoroughly crafted a five-year strategic plan (2024-2028), currently undergoing review, validation, and awaiting the Board's final approval.

This one-week training workshop, scheduled from January 1st to 6th, 2024, serves as an extension of the aforementioned strategic planning exercise. Its primary objective is to expand the capacities of top and mid-level NEBE management, acquainting them with essential knowledge, skills, procedures, and tools necessary to translate the five-year strategic plan into a well-aligned annual operational or activity plan. Additionally, the workshop aims to construct Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) frameworks for a thorough assessment and monitoring of progress towards the Board's goals.

Throughout the six-day training, topics such as the fundamentals of planning, budgeting, and Monitoring and Evaluation frameworks and tools – including the Logic Model and Results-Based Monitoring, Indicator Setting, Data Quality and Management, Data Analysis and Presentation – will be covered and discussed in both conceptual and practical contexts.

The workshop also provides an opportune moment for NEBE to conduct its mid-term internal review. As a dedicated long-term partner, ECES is assuming responsibility for the logistical needs of this training workshop.

ECES commitment is underscored by a strong conviction that such strategic and enduring initiatives will significantly contribute to realising the EURECS Project’s objective of elevating NEBE’s profile as an independent, trustworthy, and effective institution capable of delivering inclusive and democratic electoral processes in Ethiopia.
