Youth conference

On Saturday 13 March 2021, EU-JDID organised a conference for young citizens, coming from all Governorates across Jordan.

The conference took place in the House of Representatives premises and was hosted by the parliamentary Committee on Education and Youth.

The conference marked the final activity of a series of 14 workshops that took place in 2019 and 2020 all over Jordan, during which Members of Parliament discussed with young women and men from the Governorates about their participation in political and economic life.

During the conference, a report was presented with findings and recommendations of the 2019-2020 workshops. Lively discussions took place between the MPs and participants about the challenges young citizens face in Jordan.

The main conclusions of the conference on which all participants agreed were:

  1. A Youth Consultative Committee should be created, through which more contacts can be established between MPs and young citizens;
  2. The Chair of the Education and Youth Committee asked all the participants to attend the Parliament meetings, as most of the sessions are open for the public and it will allow them to know more about the parliament work.
  3. The Chair encouraged participants to start using the new application that soon will be introduced by the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives. Through this application, citizens can contribute to MPs work.
