Arab Parliaments
On March 18-19th, the EU-JDID project together with the House of Representatives hosted a regional conference on parliamentary research.
This conference has drawn together researchers working in the Parliaments of Jordan, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Lebanon with the aim of supporting the development of the research capacity in each of the parliaments and fostering cooperation and collaboration between the research services.
Welcoming participants to the event, Mr Mohammed Bani Hani, Director of the research centre, in the Jordanian House of Representatives said:
“Parliamentary research is important to support democratic institutions as they take important decisions. MPs need accurate, impartial information to perform their duties whether as individuals or as blocs or groups. Modern parliamentary research services can help in this regard.”
This is conducted under the umbrella of the European Centre for Electoral Support led consortium, with Westminster Foundation for Democracy
