Monica Frassoni, ECES’ President, José Manuel Pinto Teixeira, EU-JDID Programme Coordinator and ECES’ Vice President, Fabio Bargiacchi, ECES’ Executive Director and Aous Qutaishat, EU-JDID Senior Project Advisor and Chief Technical Advisor to the Jordan IEC Chairman, participated at the European Development Days (EDD) 2018. The event took place in Brussels, Belgium on 5-6 June 2018.

The EDD 2018 brought together private and public sector actors from around the world to present their work and lessons learned in the development sector. The high-level event was also meant to be for exchange of experience and best practices. This year’s EDD theme aimed at bringing together the EU's commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment, which are at the core of European values and enshrined within the EU's legal and political framework.
In this context, representatives from EU-JDID, ECES and the IEC participated in the activities held throughout the two-day event. And interacted with electoral and democracy stakeholders from Europe and the rest of the world.
In addition to this, and in order to present women’s role in election administration, EU-JDID carried out an interview with HE IEC commissioner, Samar Al Haj Hasan. Mrs.  Al Haj Hasan shared her thoughts on women’s participation in the public and political life of Jordan and discussed about cultural complexities around that.
