Female party members

In a first of its kind move, female members from 32 political parties issued a joint statement listing proposed amendments to the Political Parties Law and Jordanian by-law on State Subsidies to Political Parties.

The move came at the conclusion of a dialogue session for women members of political parties held under the patronage of H.E. Musa Maaytaah, Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs last week.

The event was organized by EU-JDID Component III (Support to Political Party System) in close cooperation with MoPPA under the title ‘Women in Jordanian Political Parties: Challenges and Future Vision’.

The participants benefited from the presentations of various speakers including Raedah Freihat from Jordanian National Commission for Women, Dr. Hiba Haddadin, H.E Jamil Al Nimri, H.E Abla Abu Elbeh and Dr. Hussein Abu Ruman.

The event aimed to highlight the role of women in political parties and was attended by MoPPA’s Secretary General Dr. Ali Al Khawaldeh, NIMD ’s country representative, Rami Adwan, and female members from political parties.

MoPPA works in close partnership with EU-JDID to enhance women and youth inclusion and to foster a stronger democratic and tolerant political culture, with the support of the European Centre for Electoral Support - led consortium.
