CD DISTRIBUTION

IEC production of CD's for raising electoral awarness

Ahead of the Municipal, Local and Governorate Council Elections, scheduled for the 15th August 2017, the IEC has embarked on an activity that aims at   facilitating candidates’ access to information while contributing to raising their awareness. This specific activity is the production and distribution of over 7500 CD’s containing relevant information to all candidates at every level of elections (candidate package). The CD’s contain a Copy of the Electoral  Atlas, an Election Candidate Guide, the Voters List, and finally awareness material.

The Electoral Atlas is a comprehensive document including laws, Executive Instructions, voting information, candidacy guidelines, and information  particular to each governorate such as a map of electoral districts, statistics on voters, distribution of seats, examples for every Local and Municipal Council on how to vote, and division of districts. It is a tool designed to provide all the detailed and technical information on the election that one could need.

The  Atlas is standard, and an identical copy is distributed to every candidate, just like the awareness raising material. All awareness material is  standard and shows the voter how to, and how not to physically fill in the ballot paper.

Unlike the Electoral Atlas and awareness raising material, the Voters List and Candidate Guide are tailored to the specific group of candidates form each electoral district and for each level of elections. That is to say that the CD’s produced and distributed with support from the Project contain unique Voter Lists and Candidate Guides, taking in to account the slight variations in voting procedure as well as the different names on the lists for each electoral district. This intensive production was carried out by IEC and Project staff over several days and the distribution of the finished product will begin as of the 26th of July, 2017.

In addition to the production and distribution of 7.500 candidates package, the project supported the production and the distribution of 2500 CD version of the Atlas.

The activity took place within the context of the 2nd project Component “Electoral Assistance” of the EU Support to Jordanian Democratic Institutions & Developement  project, which is part of the broader programme “Enhanced Support to Democratic Governance in Jordan“.

The EU Funded Project “EU Support to Jordanian Democratic Institutions & Development (EU-JDID)” is part of the broader Programme “Enhanced Support to Democratic Governance in Jordan”.
