signing Memorandum of Understanding
On Tuesday 16th July 2019, the Secretary General of the House of Representatives, H.E. Firas Adwan and the Director General of the Statistical Department, H.E. Dr. Qassem Al-Zoubi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on strengthening and intensifying the cooperation between the two institutions.
Accurate statistical information is considered an essential element for Members of Parliament and parliamentary staffers to perform better oversight on the government and scrutiny of legislation.
The MoU provides a standard framework for the House of Representatives and the Statistical Department for exchange of information and data. Both institutions will appoint focal points, who will ensure smooth and timely communication.
The MoU is the follow up of a seminar for researchers and committee staffers of the House of Representatives, organized by Component “Parliamentary Support” from EU-JDID, in which they were trained by an expert of the Department of Statistics on effective use of statistical information.
