ECES supports INEC to organise International Conference for EMBs in ECOWAS and SADC regions

Within the context of our EU funded Support for Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN) programme - component 1, managed by ECES in Nigeria, ECES organised an international conference on: "Opportunities and challenges in the use of technology in Elections - Experiences from West and Southern Africa”. It takes place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria, from 9-11, April 2018.

The conference, the first of its kind to be held in Nigeria, is being organized with the technical support from the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) and hosted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC), in collaboration with the Electoral Commissions Forum of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Within the period of this unique conference, participants will deliberate on several issues associated with the choice and deployment of ICT in elections, with a view to deepening collaboration among EMBs and strengthening the credibility of electoral processes in the ECOWAS and SADC regions.

Within the context of ECES' partnership with the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (SSSA) that all participants - and/or to their colleagues to enroll and complete the module on “Elections and Technology” of the only existing on-line "Master on Electoral Policy and Administration- MEPA”. About 150 delegates from 35 countries and other cutting across all Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs) of West African state (ECOWAS) and South African Development Community (ECF-SADC) as well as renowned global international elections experts are attending the conference.
