LEAD Johannesburg
ECES was in Johannesburg to deliver activities in the framework of the EU funded project in support of the prevention, mitigation and management of election related conflicts and violence (PEV-RSA). The project is implemented in partnership with the IEC South Africa. Between 13 - 15th June, the project held a Leadership and Conflict Management for Electoral Stakeholders workshop with and for the provincial officers, senior managers and national staff of the IEC. This workshop was facilitated by ECES Senior Conflict Management Advisor, Victoria Florinder, who will also be following the PEV-RSA as its dedicated coordinator, together with longstanding colleague, Rindai Chipfunde Vava from the Zimbabwe Election Support Network (ZESN) and Host Director of the Election Support Network of Southern Africa (ESN-SA). The PEV-RSA project is designed to contribute to a conducive environment for free and fair elections and especially strengthen the existing provincial conflict mediation structures. ECES and the IEC will be managing the project from a dedicated project office in IECs Headquarters in Centurion. Project activities will be delivered in all provinces and localities, focusing on those most conflict affected over the next 24 months.
