This action seeks to reduce conflict, enhance stability and build a tradition of ongoing interparty dialogue and cooperation in Ethiopia.

The project provides direct support the Ethiopian-led dialogue and related processes. As such, the dialogue and related reform initiatives are embedded in an institutional structure, and institutions that are enabled to adopt and implement the proposed reforms.

With regards to the institutionalisation of the dialogue process, the process will be complemented by bilateral, preparatory and sub-committee consultations prior to plenary dialogue consultations. This will help facilitate full understanding of the process and ensure the buy-in of key actors.

Compliance to the Code of Conduct, is crucial to further build and consolidate trust between contending parties. Here, the dialogue has an important role to play in monitoring compliance and resolving any disputes which arise between political parties.

Similarly, the Ethiopian Democracy Academy will play a crucial role in ensuring the parties involved have the necessary capacity to engage in meaningful and constructive dialogue. This will support the development and consolidation of the democratization process in Ethiopia. The School of Politics aims to encourage political party actors to base their actions on informed decisions and thereby facilitate a sustainable democratization process in Ethiopia.

Exchange visits also play an important role in the project. The visits allow participants to engage their peers on the continent on critical themes that relate to the political reform process in Ethiopia. Through a process of peer exchange, they will be able to share experiences and identify appropriate solutions.
