Anne Judy Kathurima: Is a Kenyan national with over 20 years of experience in Inclusion, Gender, Elections, Democracy, Good Governance, Youth affairs, Women's Peace and Security. She is also a qualified National and International Election Observer and Consultant working with the African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM); International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA); International Republican Institute (IRI)/National Democratic Institute (NDI); Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF); Electoral Institute for Sustainable Development in Africa (EISA) and Intergovernmental Authority in Development (IGAD) in 17 African States.
She engages with the Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) which seeks to find African Solutions to African challenges. APRM is a voluntary Governance Process acceded by African African States to adopt Best Practices in Governance, Democracy, Trade n Socio-Economics among the Africa States. She has been active in promoting greater engagement in the APRM process in Kenya, neighbouring the East African States and Africa since 2015. She has also taken part in Country Review Missions in Kenya, Mali, South Africa, Sudan and Djibouti with the APRM Secretariat.
She also serves in the Peace Support Operations (PSO) of the Africa Standby Capacity (ASC), Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) and Intergovernmental Authority in Development (IGAD) as the Election Technical Expert, Training Facilitator and Political Affairs Advisor. She has been part of the African Union Mediation team, deployed in multi-dimensional PSO and conducted post-conflict reconstruction and development need assessment in South Sudan, Burundi and Somalia.
She is also part of the AU initiative of ‘Silencing the gun by 2020’ in line with Agenda 2063 of Africa We Want as a member of FemWise Africa domiciled at the Panel of the Wise in the African Union and Africa Women Leadership Network - AWLN (an initiative of the UN and AU which seeks to increase Women’s representation at all levels of decision-making for the prevention and resolution of conflict).
