Paul has been running an independent freelance video, features and communications enterprise, specializing in European political news reporting, international election observation and institutional video features for the EU and international development community.
He has been contracted by the European Union, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), NATO, the UN and international non-government organisations to direct and produce numerous features in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Iraq, Sudan, Chad, Russia, Georgia and across the European Union.
He has extensive experience in EU election observation as press officer for missions to Uganda, Zambia, Ghana, Kenya and, most recently, Lebanon.
Between 1990 and 2007, Paul worked for the BBC as correspondent, presenter and regional editor, including resident correspondent postings in Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, Pakistan/Afghanistan.
He enjoys filming in a diverse range of countries and has made two documentaries concerning events in Afghanistan in the late 2000s that were shown at independent international film festivals (Dubai, Raindance London, Burbank USA, Hamburg Germany).
Paul has a BA Honours in German and Russian from the University of London and for ten years has been a judge on the jury of an independent film festival in Paris, the Independent European Film Festival.
