Ruth Olofin is a development practitioner with expertise in Security Sector & Governance with bias for accountability, civil military relationship and gender inclusivity. She obtained her first degree at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria in Adult Education in 2009 (2.1). Prior to this, she had obtained a National Certificate in Education (NCE) from the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin. Lagos in 2004. She later studied and acquired a Masters of Arts (MA) degree in Development Studies-Majoring in Social Policy for Development (SPD) in 2013 from the International Institute for Social Studies (ISS), The Hague, The Netherlands, with a Ph.D grade in the program. She has over 8 years vast experience (including grassroots development work) working in various national and international organisations with focus on women’s rights and gender in development, media related work on mitigating electoral violence, accountability in the justice and security sectors in Nigeria, building strong resilient communities in preventing and countering violent extremism, mainstreaming and developing gender components of various programmes. She has worked as a Support Consultant with the Department for International Development (DFID) on the Justice for All Programme on External Accountability of the Nigeria Police Force and Oversight Bodies including presently leading on CLEEN’s security sector reform program aimed at improving civil military relations between civilians and the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Currently, Ruth Olofin works as the Program Manager of the Headquarters office of CLEEN in Abuja, Nigeria as part of the management team of the organisation. She has undertaken various trainings both local and internationally to enhance her skills and deliveries across core duties of the job. She presently leads on various projects and provides strategic leadership, program implementation support and oversight through ensuring quality and timely programmatic deliveries in the program department of CLEEN Foundation, Headquarters. She is married with kids.
